Welcome. If you had to make predictions about mankinds future what would they look like?
REAF forsees some of the key future trends will be
- a return to working more closely with nature.
- learning about environment management from indigenous cultures.
- harnessing the nonlinear forces of our universe to create abundance.
- a desire to work together for global common good
Join in with our unique marine experiment to grow more fish in the sea. The simple undertaking of making reef modules for marine life provides the context for exploring and applying ancient principles to create an abundant future for all.
Our menu on the left lists tours and experiences to help you understand the above principles. Our feature learning and development program 'Back to the Future' can be adapted and planned to suit your level and focus needs.
REAF's unique named reef modules give you the opportunity to join with others in a unifying venture designed to enhance a fishery for everyone to use.
We may not all get a Street or City named after us, but we can all get our name on the seabed. Your name will live amongst the fish. (Modules designed to last 100 years)
As the old adage goes,
We can tell you about it, but you might forget,
We can show you, and you may remember,
But if we involve you, then you will understand.
Dive around this web site, explore and and it will tell you a little of what REAF offers.
For those with an hour to spare we can show you what we do at our premises in Opotiki, New Zealand.
But if you seek to understand what we do then stay a while and get involved.
REAF offers locals, tourists, educational and organisational groups (5 -15) its own unique marine story and hands on workshop experience with some philosophy mixed in.
Contact us to get more information and we can prepare a free quote for your group experience.
Every booking or purchase helps further our marine research project that you will become part of.
Our thanks go to Environment Bay of Plenty Enhancement Funding for supporting the nascent idea of 'seabed enhancement', alternatively known as 'man initiated reefs', so that now you can be involved with making a unique connection with our marine world. See more on our educational page.
We welcome feedback, which you can either post on our FaceBook page (Opotiki Community Reef) or email us directly.
May the fish be with you.
