"Having done some research on sustainable fishing methods, visiting the Opotiki Community Reef site was incredibly interesting. It is an excellent example of what can be done to ensure that fish populations thrive in the future."
Alison M., Hampshire, UK

Testimonial
"Thank you for taking us out on such an awesome fishing trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I am still amazed that we caught so many fish (large snapper, kahawai, gurnard and mackerel) in only 2.5 hours fishing. I have been fishing for many years, but never before have I caught so many quality fish in such a short time."
Sione (Hamilton, NZ)

Carbon Credits

Most of the World's carbon dioxide is contained within our oceans.
If you are looking for ways to minimise your ecological footprint on this planet then REAF offers marine habitat creation that effectively reduces carbon dioxide.
Fuel used to obtain healthy fish protein is also significantly reduced.
REAF is ecologically proactive.

REAF Franchises
Taking up a REAF franchise opportunity helps us all and our environment.
One of the ecological principles of REAF is that management of coastal resources needs greater input at a local community level.
REAF is a business that can be operated wherever there is local interest in bio-enhancement of the seabed to create an enhanced area for fish.
REAF operates an interactive system of reef building incorporating local, private and international cooperative effort; eco tourism, education and research.
The REAFWAY sustainable fishing system calls on four key components in its approach to our marine resources.
These four components are knowledge, actions, spirit and what we term making the '
connections'. ©
REAF offers full training, use of materials and registered module designs, and forwarding of orders generated by our web site for your area. There is much that can be done to promote and build your own REAF business locally. It's fun, affordable and enriching.
We recommend booking yourself onto a REAF Tour see if it’s something that might suit you.

Then contact REAF to discuss taking the next step.

Mitigating REAFs.

Deployment of bio-enhancing REAF modules is accounted as an environmentally positive action. If your current project affects the environment in some way, then sponsoring the building of mitigating REAFs as habitat for marine life where little existed previously, is one way of offsetting your environmental deficit.
An added bonus is that any REAF built can bear the promotional name of your choice. REAF can build and deploy to your requirements but we do like to involve you and your team personally at some stage.
Contact REAF for further details.

REAFWAY© Training.

The REAFWAY© system incorporates a holistic view of our marine world. Adapted to a training situation it has a lot to offer as a pathway into a variety of marine related careers.
It is practical, incorporates knowledge, calls for team work and is value orientated. A course can be geared to the level and interests of your trainees.
Whether you are a Secondary School or Tertiary Training Institution REAF can help guide you with formulating a course outline and can offer some educational resources to start with.
REAF can also deliver short duration courses to suit specific client needs. This can even include Coast Guard Day Skippers and VHF Radio Operators Certification.
Contact REAF to discuss your situation and requirements.

Self Build REAFs

In true kiwi (New Zealander) fashion there will be those who want to design and build their own REAF. This is encouraged but as the Resource Consent holder REAF Ltd needs to know who, what, where and when so that it can fulfil its reporting requirements to Regional Council. Some forms with conditions need to be completed before work can begin.
REAF is also very safety conscious and offers some basic boating safety tips and other advice to avoid crush and lifting injuries.
Contact REAF, discuss your plans and register your interest. Use our random point generator to select a site or choose one yourself. When the signs (tohu) are good you might want to consider developing another site.
Contact REAF to explore the various options available to make REAF building an affordable activity for you.
